Overview

This guide provides comprehensive instructions on how to join, participate, and succeed in backgammon tournaments on our platform. It covers everything from joining a tournament to understanding the various stages of match.

How to Join a Tournament

Step 1: Visit the Tournaments Page

Navigate to the Tournaments Page, Here, you’ll see a list of all available tournaments, including both ongoing and upcoming events.

Step 2: Choose Your Tournament

  • Scheduled: These have a fixed start date and time. Make sure to join before the scheduled start.
  • Sit n Go: These start automatically when all available seats are filled. Ideal for quick, spontaneous matches.

Step 3: Join the Tournament

  • Click the Join button next to your chosen tournament.
  • After joining, the button changes to Leave, giving you the option to withdraw before the tournament begins.

Possible Conditions to Join:

Buy-In: Some tournaments may require a buy-in, where you need to pay with specific coins to enter.
Experience Requirement: Certain tournaments may only allow players with a specific amount of experience or skill to register.
Assets: You might need to possess certain assets, like Gems, to join.
Password or Invitation: Some tournaments may require a password or an invitation to participate.

Step 4: Check the Tournament Details

  • For more information about a tournament, click on the Details button or the tournament title.
  • The Tournament Details page provides all the specifics, including format, prize information, and more.

Important Note on Start Times: The time displayed for each tournament is based on your local device time. Ensure your device’s time is correct to avoid any discrepancies.

When Does the Tournament Start

Scheduled Tournaments

  • These begin at a specific date and time, displayed clearly on the tournament card.
  • Example: If a tournament is scheduled for August 20th at 3:00 PM UTC, join before this time to participate.

Sit n Go Tournaments

  • These start as soon as all seats are filled. There is no fixed start time.
  • Example: A Sit n Go tournament requiring 4 players will begin as soon as the 4th player joins.

Preparing for Tournament Start:

1: Matches are automatically opened when the tournament starts.
2: A 90-second waiting period occurs before the main timer begins, allowing players to settle in.
3: It’s recommended to check in to the app at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.

If you can't find your tournament match, navigate to the tournament details and check the Matches tab to see what's going on.`

Tournament Details

Once you’ve joined a tournament, access the Tournament Details page by clicking on the tournament title or Details button. The page is organized into several key tabs:

Info Tab

  • Format: Indicates the tournament format, such as Single Elimination or Double Elimination.
  • Variation: Specifies the backgammon variation being played, such as Standard, Hypergammon, Nackgammon, or Tavla.
  • Clock: Details the time controls, specifying how much time each player has to make their moves.
  • Length: Specifies the length of each match. Note that the final match may have a different, often longer, length.
  • Prize: Details the guaranteed prize pool, distributed among top finishers.
  • Buy-In: Indicates if there is an entry fee for the tournament.
  • Description: Provides any additional information or special rules specific to the tournament.

Players Tab

  • Displays a list of all registered players.
  • After the tournament concludes, this tab shows the final rankings, prizes awarded, and points gained.

Matches Tab

  • Activated when the tournament starts, showing live matches and an archive of completed games.
  • Allows you to track the progress of on-going games.

Prizes Tab

  • Offers detailed information about prize distribution.
  • The prize amounts may adjust based on the number of participants.

Brackets Tab

  • Visually represents the tournament’s progression, showing who advances through each round.
  • Helps you follow the tournament flow and potential matchups.

Formats

Single Elimination Format

  • Losing a Match: If you lose a match, you are eliminated from the tournament.
  • Winning a Match: If you win, you advance to the next round. However, you may need to wait for your next opponent to be determined, depending on the outcome of other matches.
  • Monitoring Progress: Use the Chart tab in the Tournament Details to track the progress of the tournament and see when your next match might start.
